Malta Resuscitation Council Supports Initiative of Maratona bir-Roti

The initiative of the ‘Maratona bir-Roti’ to introduce Automated External Defibrillators (AED) in schools is being fully supported by the Malta Resuscitation Council as this is certainly the way forwards in ensuring health and safety not only of our schoolchildren in case of sudden cardiac arrest but also as Schools and Colleges serve as centres for adult learning during the evening hours, this initiative will also assist in enhancing the emergency response for possible cardiac arrest in more senior members of the community. The Malta Resuscitation Council would like to ensure that no further lives are lost within schools especially those belonging to our young ones. Equipping schools with automated external defibrillators (AEDs) and teaching school nurses, teachers and others who work within school premises on how to use this equipment can give cardiac arrest victims another chance at life.
