Press Release: AED Donation to Dar tal-Providenza by the Malta Resuscitation Council in collaboration with Siġġiewi Rowing Club

The Malta Resuscitation Council (MRC), in collaboration with the Siġġiewi Rowing Club, is proud to announce the donation of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) to Dar tal-Providenza, a home that provides care and dignity to persons with disabilities.

This initiative forms part of the Council’s ongoing commitment to strengthening the chain of survival in local communities and ensuring that lifesaving equipment is made available in places where it can make the greatest difference. The AED, a simple yet vital device, is designed to be used by members of the public in cases of sudden cardiac arrest, dramatically improving the chances of survival.

Present at the ceremony were Dr Tanya Esposito and Dr Marius Caruana, representatives from the Malta Resuscitation Council, Professor Joseph N Grima and Dr Marilyn Casha of the Siġġiewi Rowing Club, and Fr Martin Micallef of Dar tal-Providenza.

Speaking at the event, Dr Tanya Esposito said:

“This donation reflects our mission to empower communities with the right tools and training to respond effectively in an emergency. Dar tal-Providenza plays a crucial role in providing care to some of the most vulnerable in society, and we are honoured to contribute to their safety.”

Professor Joseph N Grima added:

“As a club, we are not only committed to sport, but also to our wider community. Through this collaboration, we wanted to give back by supporting such a respected institution as Dar tal- Providenza.”

On receiving the donation, Fr Martin Micallef, Director of Dar tal-Providenza, expressed gratitude:

“This AED will enhance the security and peace of mind of our residents, staff, and visitors. We are deeply thankful to the Malta Resuscitation Council and the Siġġiewi Rowing Club for this generous initiative.”
