The Malta Resuscitation Council successfully hosted its inaugural International
Conference on Resuscitation on April 24 and 25, 2026, marking a significant
milestone in advancing resuscitation science and practice both locally and
internationally.
Held at a leading hotel in Qawra, the two-day conference brought together a
distinguished faculty of renowned international and local experts who delivered high-
level presentations on a wide range of resuscitation topics. These included cutting-
edge developments in cardiac arrest management, emergency response systems,
post-resuscitation care, and training methodologies.
The conference was well attended by healthcare professionals, educators, and
emergency responders, reflecting strong interest and engagement within the medical
and allied health community.
The event was formally opened by the Chairman of the Malta Resuscitation Council,
Dr Tanya Esposito, who emphasised the importance of continuous education,
collaboration, and innovation in improving survival outcomes. She highlighted the
Council’s commitment to strengthening resuscitation standards in Malta through
education, research, and international cooperation.
The opening ceremony also featured an address by the Minister for Health and
Active Ageing, the Hon. Jo Etienne Abela, who commended the initiative and
underscored the critical role of such conferences in enhancing national healthcare
capacity and patient outcomes.
Participants praised the conference for its high scientific quality, practical relevance,
and opportunities for networking and collaboration. The success of this first edition
sets a strong foundation for future international events organised by the Malta
Resuscitation Council.
