October is recognized as Sudden Cardiac Arrest Awareness Month, a time dedicated to raising awareness about sudden cardiac arrest, its signs and symptoms, and the critical actions needed to save lives.
This month emphasizes the importance of bystander intervention, including performing CPR and using an automated external defibrillator (AED), which can significantly increase survival chances. For every minute without CPR and AED use, survival chances decrease by about 10 percent.
In Malta, the Malta Resuscitation Council is working on sharing awareness and training on Basic Life Support.
